Illya Sumanto

Illya Sumanto is an herbalist who has performed around the world with powerful female poets to heal through spoken word and theatre. Part of Poetry CafĂ© KL; a collective that organises poetry workshops, readings and slams in Kuala Lumpur, she specialises working with young writers and theatre performers, stage-crafting, and writing for numerous school productions. Illya has been recognised for her work as a director and scriptwriter for children’s theatre by The Ministry of Education, and has also received a special award from the University of Malaya for her achievements and contributions to the field of Education.
