Melizarani T.Selva (@melizarani) is a spoken word poet, educator and journalist. Having been the first Malaysian to speak and perform poetry at Asia’s largest TEDx event, TEDxGateway Mumbai, her poems have seen various prominent stages locally and internationally across 6 countries. Her first book, ‘Taboo’ made the Top 10 Best-Seller List of Malaysia’s Largest Online Bookstore. Her poems have also been translated into Bahasa Malaysia by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Malaysian Institute of Language and Literature) as well as French in ‘Lettres de Malaisie’. She currently runs Kuala Lumpur’s first monthly poetry open mic, ’If Walls Could Talk’, a bilingual poetry slam ‘Slamokrasi’ and a poetry workshop series, ‘Poets in Progress’ on using spoken word for effective storytelling and public speaking, to voices of all ages.
